Business Bay

Our look at the skyscrapers in Dubai took us to Business Bay, which is one metro stop south-west of the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station.
Business Bay is a central business, commercial and residential district under construction and features numerous skyscrapers along a new extension of Dubai Creek extending from Ras Al Khor to Sheikh Zayed Road. Its master plan, drawn up in 2003, envisaged the biggest office district in the Middle East, with towers of offices and homes akin to Canary Wharf in London’s Docklands, making it a new 'city' within the city of Dubai. With the recovery in the Dubai real estate market and a new wave of optimism hitting the city, Business Bay, at the time of writing, is now altering its original conception with the emphasis shifting from offices to more residential and leisure uses.
Our main reason for visiting Business Bay was to see The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai Hotel which is the world's tallest hotel It is 72 floors high and standing at 355 m (1,165 ft) is a twin-tower skyscraper complex. The hotel boasts 1608 rooms. The foyer was very impressive and to get an idea of the clientele, two Lamborghini's were parked outside the entrance. For any British people feeling homesick, there is a small WH Smith's inside.
