The Ravine

The Ravine leads traffic one way from Yarmouth Road down to the end of Whapload Road.

The Ravine is formerly the site of Gunton Score and is best viewed from a footbridge that connects Bellevue Park with North Parade. The footbridge, as noted on carved plaques, was presented in commemoration of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887 by a William Youngman Esq. the first Mayor of Lowestoft. The bridge was opened on 29th August that year on the second anniversary of the charter of incorporation of the borough of Lowestoft.
